Lipomas in Children What is That?
Lipomas are slow-growing soft tissue tumors beneath the skin, derived from adipose cells. Fortunately, it is rare in children. And they are benign in most cases, that is, they are not malignant. Of all soft tissue tumors, less than 10% occur in pediatric age; however, the fact that they occur rarely does not rule out the need to study them in depth. Most cases occur between 7 and 8 years of age. Almost three-quarters are on the trunk, back and extremities and the vast majority are unique. They can be differentiated between superficial and deep, but most are located between the skin and the muscle layer. On some occasions, they can be associated with complex syndromes.
